Domaine Fourrier is a famous winery in France that specializes in both red and white wine. Winemaker Tan has a long history with this place. How did it start? Domaine Fourrier’s chardonnay has been awarded the International Trophy by The Decanter World Wine Awards in 2001 and 2003. Its sparkling wine is served throughout the world at first-class restaurants. Domaine Fourrier makes only a limited amount each year. Either you’re lucky to get it or not because popular demand means that it sells out quickly. Founded in 1887, Domaine Fourrier has since established itself as one of the most popular wineries in France. A prerequisite for success is tradition, passed down from previous generations who, through their knowledge and persistence, have gained a reputation for excellence.

Domaine Fourrier is one of the most renowned winemakers in France. For thirty years, they have been committed to producing excellent wines in Mesnil-sur-Oger, and their red and white wine have grown to be highly praised as some of the finest vintages in all of France. Domaine Fourrier is a traditional Beaujolais producer, based in the small town of Brouilly. They have been in business for over four generations, an impressive record for this region of France.

In the eighth century, the monks of the Abbey of Fourriers (France), on their way from Vienne to the monastery of Bèze, planted a vineyard dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. The site, called “monastère,” has been demarcated since 1735 by a stone wall that local villagers have nicknamed “the Cité.” Located in the southern part of Burgundy near Vevey and Le Locle, Domaine Fourrier produces superior Pinot noir and Chardonnay grapes in an area known for its ancient Catholic tradition.

For centuries, in the French town of Coulanges-la-Vineuse, families have been working the land to produce great wine. Online wine auction  has been owned by the Monge family for five generations and its unique terraced vineyards are the result of constant care and hard work. The location, far from major cities, protects the wine from pollution and allows it to reveal its true character. Our grapes ripen at different levels, allowing us to grow both red and white wine. The red is firm and fruity with a nice kick, while the white is pale with a hint of pear and apple. We harvest from early September until December each year.

The family farm’s vineyards are among the highest in the Cote de Beaune area and enjoy a cool, gentle climate that results in grapes of high quality. Madeline Fourrier’s winery produces only basic wines (no wines with additives and no oak aging) from vineyards that are farmed entirely according to biodynamic principles. Her winemaking is always done by hand and she employs natural yeast fermentation.

The vineyard has a south and southwest exposure and sits at an elevation of 270-m (886 feet), which results in a temperate climate. The history of Domaine Fourrier is the history of red wine in Bourgogne. Around 1800, the region was ideal for growing white wines, but no one knew what to do with its red grapes. Then a priest from nearby Dijon, Monsignor Fourrier, had a vision – the world-famous Burgundy wines would be made from Pinot Noir. He made wine for his friends, and soon his son Jacques joined in. Their first real vintage was 1921, and their first commercial vintage was 1936. Although Monsignor Fourier died in 1906 and Jacques in 1971, little has changed. Both of them loved food and wine.”

Domaine Fourrier, located in the Coteaux du Giennois in the Sancerre region of France’s Loire Valley, was founded in 1929 by Auguste Fourrier. The winery takes its name from Auguste’s daughter and her husband Henry Doizette. Since then, the winery has passed down through generations, always remaining family-owned and operated. Today, it is owned and run by Auguste’s grandson and his son who, with their team of vintners and technicians, adhere to traditional winemaking methods handed down through five generations of the Donizetti family.

Domaine Fourrier is famous for four white wines: Pouilly-Fumé Fiefs d’Aulan – also known as “Chardonnay Muscadet” – Sancerre Blanc Les Hauts de Doizette, Sancerre Rouge Les Hauts de Doizette – crafted from a grape variety known as Gros Manseng – and an assemblage of these two called Le Clos. Domaine Fourrier thrives on attention to detail with each step of the process throughout the growing season that begins.

The Fourier family has cultivated grapes in the same area for over four centuries now and built a wine production that is said to be methodically perfect. The family-owned estate’s most prestigious wines are those produced under the Domaine Fourrier label. On the property, there are six hectares of well-known Grand Cru wine vines. This family has been producing their special blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir since the late 18th century with a very strict quality standard.
